About CalcWise - Privacy-First Calculator Platform
A privacy-first calculator platform built by a solo developer who believes tools shouldn't exploit users.
Our Mission
Build 500+ privacy-first calculators that respect users and provide accurate results—proving you don't need to exploit people to build useful tools on the web.
What Is CalcWise?
CalcWise is a collection of free, fast calculators for everyday use. Whether you're calculating a mortgage payment, checking your BMI, or converting units, these tools run entirely in your browser with zero data collection from your calculations.
No tracking your keystrokes. No storing your results. No selling your data. Just clean, functional tools that respect your privacy.
Why CalcWise Exists
I got tired of calculator websites that load slowly, track everything you do, and hide basic functionality behind paywalls or account sign-ups. Most calculator sites treat users as products to monetize rather than people who just need a quick calculation.
CalcWise is my answer to that problem. I built it the way I wanted calculator sites to work: fast loading, no data harvesting, and transparent about how it operates.
Core Values
Privacy First
Every calculation happens in your browser. I never see your inputs or results. Your financial data, health metrics, or whatever you're calculating stays on your device where it belongs.
No BS
I don't oversell what these calculators do. Financial calculators provide estimates—they're not substitutes for professional advice. Health calculators use standard formulas but don't replace doctors. I'm upfront about limitations.
Fast & Clean
No bloated frameworks. No unnecessary requests. System fonts, minimal code, optimized performance. The average calculator page loads in under 2 seconds because your time matters.
Open Source
The code is public on GitHub. You can see exactly how the calculations work, suggest improvements, report bugs, or fork the project for your own use. Transparency isn't just marketing—it's how this site operates.
What About Ads?
Look, I get it—ads are annoying. But hosting isn't free, and I'd rather keep these calculators available to everyone than lock them behind a subscription. So I use Media.net for advertising with a focus on minimal disruption.
Here's what that means: Media.net serves contextual ads based on page content (not tracking you around the web). Basic cookies for ad delivery, but your calculations never leave your browser. If you use an adblocker or decline cookies, the calculators work exactly the same.
I also use Plausible.io for basic analytics—just page views, no personal data, no cookies, fully anonymized. I need to know which calculators get used so I can prioritize improvements.
Meet Aaron: Founder & Developer
Just me—Aaron. I'm a hobbyist developer and privacy enthusiast studying Personal Financial Planning, with a passion for building tools that respect users rather than exploit them.
Background & Expertise
My approach to CalcWise combines several areas of focus:
- Hobbyist coding: Self-taught developer with experience building web applications from scratch
- Financial planning education: Currently studying Personal Financial Planning to ensure financial calculators are accurate and educational
- Privacy advocacy: Deep interest in privacy-first technologies and ethical data practices
- Finance enthusiast: Hobbyist knowledge of personal finance, investing, and economic principles
How I Ensure Accuracy
I don't work alone. I leverage a network of family, friends, and professional relationships—both online and offline—to verify all information used on CalcWise. I'm fortunate to have a large family spanning many different fields of work, which gives me quick access to reliable, accurate, and authoritative information across a wide variety of topics.
Whether it's verifying medical formulas with healthcare professionals, double-checking financial calculations with certified planners, or validating scientific equations with STEM professionals, every calculator benefits from real expertise before going live.
I write all the code, test all the calculators, and maintain the infrastructure. When you reach out on the contact page, you're talking directly to me—not a support team reading from a script.

Our Journey: From Idea to Scale
October 2025: CalcWise launched with a focus on finding the right approach. The first month was all about establishing a groove—learning the best methods for finding reliable information, implementing robust bug-fixing processes, and creating a sustainable development workflow.
November 2025: Breakthrough month. We successfully created and verified 7 comprehensive calculators with accurate, educational information. More importantly, we developed a scalable system for quickly implementing new calculators without sacrificing quality.
The turning point: After weeks of trial and error, we discovered how to streamline the calculator creation process while maintaining high standards for accuracy and user experience. What used to take days now takes hours—and we can scale.
Current stats:
- 7+ calculators live and verified
- 100% privacy-first design—no data collection from calculations
- Open source on GitHub
- Zero compromises on user privacy or calculator accuracy
How We Ensure Quality & Accuracy
Every CalcWise calculator follows a rigorous verification process before going live. Here's exactly how we maintain accuracy:
1. Source Research
Formulas are sourced from authoritative organizations with full citations provided:
- Financial calculators: IRS.gov, CFPB.gov, Federal Reserve, FHFA.gov
- Health calculators: CDC.gov, NIH.gov, FDA.gov, WHO.int, Mayo Clinic
- Science calculators: NIST.gov, NASA, academic textbooks, peer-reviewed research
- Math calculators: Educational standards, mathematical proofs, verified academic sources
2. Expert Verification
I leverage my network of family, friends, and professional contacts across diverse fields to verify calculations:
- Financial calculators reviewed by professionals with financial planning expertise
- Health calculators cross-checked with healthcare professionals
- Scientific formulas validated by STEM professionals
- Business calculators verified against industry standards
3. Code Review
All calculation logic is:
- Open source on GitHub for public review and contribution
- Written in vanilla JavaScript with clear, readable code
- Commented to explain the mathematical logic
- Testable with known correct inputs and outputs
4. Real-World Testing
Before launch, every calculator is tested with:
- Edge cases (zero values, negative numbers, extremely large inputs)
- Known correct examples from authoritative sources
- Cross-validation against competitor calculators (Calculator.net, official government tools)
- Mobile and desktop browser testing
5. User Feedback Loop
After launch, we:
- Monitor bug reports and respond within 24-48 hours
- Investigate accuracy concerns immediately
- Update calculators when formulas or regulations change
- Maintain a public GitHub issue tracker for transparency
Bottom line: If a calculator formula can't be verified from authoritative sources and cross-checked by relevant professionals, it doesn't go live. Accuracy isn't negotiable.
What's Next?
The goal is to build 500+ calculators covering every common use case. Financial planning, health metrics, mathematical operations, unit conversions, business calculations—if people need it regularly, it should be here.
Each calculator gets built the same way: clean code, clear explanations, accurate formulas, and zero data collection from your inputs. If you have suggestions for calculators you'd like to see, let me know.

My Commitment
CalcWise will always prioritize user respect over revenue. I could make more money with aggressive tracking and data selling. I could build higher walls and force subscriptions. I'm choosing not to do either.
The middle path—free tools, minimal ads, maximum transparency—means slower growth and lower profits. But it also means building something I'm actually proud of. You decide if that works for you.
